Social work for working-age people

Social work cooperates with individuals, families and communities with the aim of alleviating challenges created by different life situations, strengthening operating conditions and inclusion, and promoting the social integrity of communities.

Social work can be implemented as an independent service or together with other services. Social work is specialised work aimed at preventing, reducing, and eliminating social problems. It is implemented at the individual, family, community and structural level. Social work is targeted at clients in need of special support and it is granted on a temporary basis. Social work is implemented in a systematic manner.

The service is available to working age residents and their families in the wellbeing services county. The services are intended for people who have difficulties coping with everyday life and moving forward in life due to prolonged unemployment or reduced ability to work. Clients may have mental health or substance abuse problems that make it difficult for them to cope with everyday life, problems with housing, or they may suffer from homelessness. In addition, clients may need guidance and advice related to social security or other social services. Clients may have ended up in their current situation due to having suffered a sudden crisis, violence, or financial problems in the past.
