Decision making
Wellbeing services counties are self-governing public bodies. The county council is the highest decision-making body in the wellbeing services county and it is responsible for its finances and operations.
Equality is a governing principle in the decisions made by county councillors. Decisions are not made on a municipal basis, but in such a way that they take into account the needs of all the residents in the South Savo Wellbeing Services County.
The county executive is responsible for preparing, implementing and monitoring the legality of the county council’s decisions. The county executive also manages the operations, administration and finances of the wellbeing services county.

County council
The county council of the South Savo Wellbeing Services County has 59 members. During the present term, each municipality of the South Savo county has at least one councillor in the county council.

County executive
The county executive of the South Savo Wellbeing Services County has 13 members that are appointed by the county council. Each member has a personal deputy. The county council also elects a chairperson and two vice-chairpersons among the members of the county executive.
