The purpose of social welfare services for families with children is to support families with children in challenges related to everyday life, coping, parenting, relationships and raising children.
One might need support in a certain life stages and situations, for example due to an illness or life crisis, or when a family does not have a network of relatives and friends that can support them in their everyday life. The goal is to proactively prevent future problems and the need for child protection.

Family counselling services are aimed at families with children living in the South Savo area.

Family centre
The family centre offers the following basic and specialised services;
- contraception, maternity and children’s clinics
- paediatrics and paediatric neurology appointment service
- special support services for children
- paediatric ward
- parenting and family counselling
- children’s mental health appointment service
- neonatal intensive care and monitoring department
- maternity ward and delivery rooms
- seri support centre for victims of sexual violence
The family centre also offers services in homes, kindergartens and schools.
There are also 50 adult ward places for patients of the central hospital on the two top floors of the building.

At the Pieksämäki social and health centre, clients can access appointment and hospital services, services for families and services for the elderly.

Setri houses the following social welfare services:
- Services for families with children; social services and service coordination, home services for families with children, family work, support worker services (support workers and families).
- Family law services; child supervisors.
- Child welfare services.
